Alex is an agency and brand leader dedicated to building a better future for the creative services industry by imagining new ways to collaborate, grow, and equitably share in the value we create.
He is co-founder of the 'agency' arm of RADAR – a decentralized community of 500+ members who have set out to accelerate better futures in multi-player mode. The RADAR 'Agency' helps clients discover untapped opportunities, create new value for the communities they serve, and protect the long-term viability of their business.
Alex started his career in San Francisco working across a portfolio of technology brands at Young & Rubicam before joining independent creative agency Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (BSSP) to help lead the MINI Cooper Business.
During that 4-year stint, he led some of the agency's most ambitious and award-winning integrated campaigns. In 2013, Alex switched gears to gain experience in the financial services and packaged goods categories, leading notable brands including U.S. Bank, and Nature Made Vitamins. In 2017, he led the pitch team that won the business for NBA 2K, an icon in sports gaming. During his years leading the 2K business, the agency launched multiple award-winning efforts that shaped culture and helped BSSP be named Ad Age's 2018 Small Agency of the Year.
Following a move to Europe in 2018, he transitioned to a new business leadership position for BSSP, and was responsible for all in-bound and out-bound marketing.
In mid 2020, he took his first break from the advertising industry, joining the management consultancy eBusiness Institute as a member of their leadership team. Alex served as the Head of Partnerships & Communications, building a global network of partnerships & specialist talent to help power the company's consulting services. Additionally he managed the team responsible for marketing and new business efforts.
During these years, his focus shifted from client work to agency health, and he begin to question the fundamentals behind how we organize, create and share value. Alex's MBA thesis research for the Berlin School of Creative Leadership helped him view this from a higher level of abstraction, and he begin to consult on the topic full-time. In late 2023 he joined a "huddle" on decentralized creativity which introduced him to the team at RADAR, and helped set a new course.
In addition to his work with RADAR, Alex is also the founder of Sail, an innovation and growth consultancy dedicated to helping agencies become active participants in building the futures they want, through a blend of strategy, systems, and hands on support.
